International Walk to School Day
The purpose of Walk to School Day is to increase awareness of the benefits of walking or bicycling to school for children and local communities. Studies have shown that children who are physically active do better in school and morning exercise is associated with increased activity throughout the day for children. Fathers are always encouraged to walk to school with their children as a way to connect as a family and have a direct impact on their children's daily lives. A 2009 study released by National Center for Fathering indicated that one of the greatest increases in father involvement over the past nine years has come in the form of "walking or taking your child to school".
