What does fatherhood mean to you?
Fatherhood has provided me with an opportunity to listen, learn and teach. It’s a responsibility that has tremendous rewards.
What is the best part of being a dad?
Looking into my daughter’s eyes and seeing her love, intelligence and eagerness to learn. It’s also wonderful to know that we have years of fun to come!
What is your proudest moment as a dad?
The first time my daughter ran up to hug and kiss me.
What do you and your child do for fun?
We participate in a lot of water sports together – tubing, wave runners, speedboats, etc.
What is the hardest part about being a dad?
There isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done with my daughter!
What kind of dad do you strive to be?
I want to be a dad who listens, provides for my daughter, is understanding and able to always show love.
Describe your funniest moment as a dad.
It was just recently when I watched Kayley sing the national anthem with her choir before the Colorado Rockies game!
What would you hope your child would say about you if asked what kind of a dad she has?
I hope Kayley would say that I’m a loveable teddy bear, a provider, protector and a nice man.
What is the most important piece of advice you’ve received about fatherhood?
To listen! And to do your best to restrain from responding immediately when you might disagree with something your child is saying. It’s also important to always be engaged when your child is speaking with you.
What would you consider to be your most inspiring moment as a dad?
When I graduated from college, I was able to share the entire experience with my daughter. It was so cool to see how excited and proud she was!
